Experience Fiesta Days Fun in McHenry This Week

McHenry Fiesta Days 2014Fiesta Days in McHenry kicked off this weekend with a bang, but the fun is far from over! This weeklong festival in Peterson Park continues through July 20, and residents of Gerstad Builders’ new homes in Liberty Trails are less than five minutes away from all the excitement of this beloved annual tradition!

Here is the lineup for the week:

Monday, July 14: Starting at 5 p.m., festival attendees can enjoy unlimited amusement rides for $20. At 5:30 p.m., there will be a Big Wheels Race and starting at 7 p.m., “Teen Night” begins! The live musical guest for tonight will be August Hotel. 

Tuesday, July 15: No events are planned for this day, so it is a great day to relax and recover from the Fiesta Days festivities by kicking back in the four season room in your Gerstad Builders home.

Wednesday, July 16: Calling all runners! Tonight there will be an open track meet at McCracken Field, sponsored by the McHenry Parks and Recreation Department. If you’re planning to race, check-in begins at 5 p.m. with events beginning at 5:15 p.m.

Thursday, July 17: Enjoy live music starting at 5 p.m. at Veteran’s Memorial Park, with delicious food, beer, and entertainment from The Scotch Lads. There will also be a Parade Marshal Ceremony honoring Pat Wirtz from 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Friday, July 18: You scream, we scream—McHenry County residents all scream for ice cream, and today they can get plenty of it! Be sure to bring your children out to the Ice Cream Social from 3 to 8 p.m. There will also be face painting, a moon walk, balloon art, games and much more! Entertainment for the day begins at 3:30 p.m. and  includes Soliel Dance Studio, “4 Strings Attached” of the Martin Lopez Academy, MarRay Dance Studio,  Animals Adventure Show, The Many Talents of Brent Allen and the Crystal Lake Strikers.

Saturday, July 19: The 31st Annual Arts and Crafts in the Park will be held at Veterans Memorial Park and the Riverview Theatre Company will be bringing Shakespeare to life with songs, skits, puppetry and more from 9 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

Sunday, July 20: Celebrate the final day of Fiesta Days with the parade finale, themed “British Invasion.” Beginning at 1:30 p.m., the procession will make its way from Main Street, along Green Street, Pearl Street, Riverside Drive, and finally, Washington Street. Afterward, crowds will move to the gazebo at Veteran’s Memorial Park from the Drum and Bugle Corps Show.

Food for the coming weekend will include the tastiest treats from Old Town Pizza Co., First United Methodist Church, Riverside Chocolate Factory, McHenry Masonic Lodge, MJ’s Coffee Bar and Country Time Kettle Corn.
