Celebrate Earth Day at Big Foot Beach State Park

Earth Day at Big Foot Beach State ParkOn Tuesday, April 22, 2014, America will celebrate Earth Day. Thousands of individuals across the country will come together to plant trees, recycle and pick-up trash. For residents of Williams Bay homes, you can celebrate Earth Day by volunteering at nearby Big Foot Beach State Park.

This Saturday, April 19, volunteers are invited to celebrate Earth Day by helping to plant trees, pick-up trash and get Big Foot Beach State Park ready for the summer season. Interested? Meet at the park’s front entrance beginning at 9 a.m. Remember that you are working outside, so wear clothes that are weather and work appropriate. Also, bring work gloves and shovels or rakes if you have them.

Although you will be volunteering, state park admission fees will apply. Parking rates are $7 per day or $25 per year for Wisconsin plates and $10 per day or $35 per year for non-resident plates.

The Work, Play, Earth Day event will be hosted by Friends of Big Foot State Park. Established in 2005, Friends of Big State Park is led by local citizens who saw a need to help protect local treasures. Big Foot Beach State Park is situated along the clear water of Lake Geneva. Outdoor-enthusiasts will enjoy miles of trails and natural scenic areas, as well as a 100-foot swimming area and fishing in Ceylon Lagoon. Additional highlights of the park include a sand volleyball court, playground and orienteering courses.
