Festival of the Sugar Maples Coming Soon to McHenry County

Courtesy of McHenry County Illinois Convention & Visitors BureauIt’s time once again for the annual Festival of the Sugar Maples, held this year at Coral Woods Conservation Area! This McHenry county event will be limited to two weekends, March 7 and 8 and March 14 and 15 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., so don’t miss out on your chance to attend!

The Festival of the Sugar Maples is an annual celebration where guests learn how maple syrup is produced, and then commemorate the experience by tasting the final product! Visitors will learn how maple syrup was made hundreds of years ago and discover how the process has changed over the centuries. Additionally, the festival will offer the opportunity to learn how maple trees produce sap each spring, how the sap is collected from the trees, and finally, how the sap is used to make maple syrup at the evaporator house. Be sure to stop for breakfast before or after the festival to get your fill of maple syrup on pancakes!

To coincide with the festival, the Lions Club will be hosting their annual Pancake Breakfast on day each weekend of the celebration. The first breakfast will be held on March 8 from 7 a.m. to noon at the South Union Roadhouse (Donley’s) and the second will be held on March 15 from 7 a.m. to noon at Marengo United Methodist Church.

The Festival of the Sugar Maples takes place in the beautiful landscape of McHenry County, just a short distance away from our Liberty Trails community in McHenry and The Trails of Pheasant Ridge in Richmond.  These new McHenry County homes include ranch style and two-story homes from 1,300 to 3,200 square feet, and come equipped with amenities such as GE appliances and Moen fixtures.  For more information on available homes at these McHenry County communities, visit the Gerstad Builders website today!
