This free, family-friendly event offers a delightful escape for all ages, filled with frosty fun, artistic marvels and the magic of winter.

The Enchantment of Winterfest

Celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, Winterfest at Lake Geneva invites your family to join the fun every day from January 29 to February 2. The first Winterfest took place in 1995 as an attempt to bring business to Lake Geneva in the off-season, thanks to local businessman Nick Anagnos. Prior, the area was mostly dormant after the summer crowd moved out, but Winterfest has successfully ushered people back to the lake during the winter.

Unveiling the Winter Wonderland

Every year, Lake Geneva hosts America’s Snow Sculpting Invitational during Winterfest, and as a special anniversary treat this year, it will welcome back past champions for an exhilarating competition of creativity and craftsmanship! Over the span of four days, sculptors from across the country, as well as 15 teams, transform their 10-foot blocks of snow into elaborate sculptures. This competition is your chance to see awe-inspiring snow sculptures and vote for your favorites to win People’s Choice.

The Downtown Ice Sculpture Walk is another cold-weather delight. Stroll amongst icy artistry throughout the town, each sponsored by local businesses and the City of Lake Geneva Tourism Commission. The 45 creative sculptures set a beautiful backdrop for winter photos with family and friends, as well as provide an excuse to walk around Lake Geneva’s charming downtown district.

Winter Activities Galore

As you enjoy Winterfest, don’t forget to stay warm! Winterfest features a series of lakeside bonfires that provide a toasty ambience and invite families to roast marshmallows under the winter sky. Live entertainment will also take place throughout the event, further adding culture and community to this beloved tradition.
