The Sales Tax Holiday is Coming Soon!

Back to SchoolSchool will be starting on August 16th and school supplies are everywhere you look. Soon you will have to actually pick up the list for your child’s grade and go shopping!

Did you know about the Sales Tax Holiday?  What is that you ask? The Sales Tax Holiday is a period of time where consumers pay a reduced sales tax rate on certain items. Illinois residents are lucky because not all states are offering this back to school break this year.

This tax holiday is August 6 – 15, 2010.  Not every product qualifies for this tax break, but lots of school supplies do.  To find out what products qualify, follow this link to the Sales Tax Informational Bulletin published by the Illinois Department of Revenue.

When making your school supply shopping lists don’t forget about this 10 day window of extra savings.  This is just another advantage to living in Illinois!
